Tools : Figma
Team: Individual
Role: User Interface designer
Timeline: Aug 24 - oct 24
Overview
I was tasked with creating a website wireframe to showcase the Pixel 9 and its new features. The goal was to apply key User Interface design principles to highlight the phone’s capabilities while ensuring a seamless and intuitive user experience. The focus was on clear navigation and presenting information in a way that is engaging and easy to understand.
Goals
The goal of this project was to create a clear and intuitive interface that effectively communicates the differences between the three Pixel 9 phone models. The focus was on ensuring that users could easily navigate and understand the key features and distinctions between each model, providing a seamless and informative experience.
Process
Project Proposal
My first step was writing out my proposal to plan out my website. I entailed how I would be using various design principles within my work to further improve the effectiveness of the information. Below is a link to that proposal.
User Interface Design Principles
Zeigarnik Effect
The Zeigarnik Effect states that tasks that are unfinished are remembered better than tasks that are completed. I want to take advantage of the Zeigarnik Effect by having different colors for each navigation bar tab that is present when the use is on that section only. This will show users their position on the site.
Von Restorff Effect
The Von Restorff Effect states that among similar objects, the one that visually differs from the rest the most is the one that will be remembered. I want to consider using this effect to make a phone's price a different color from the rest of the information. This will make it visually differ and therefore be the point of interest that will be remembered.
serial position effect
The Serial Position Effect states that the first and last objects within a sequence are remembered more than the others. I want to consider this Effect by having the home page include the phone’s names and prices, and the last page will showcase the new AI features. The AI features are the main selling point so they must be last so users remember them. This helps to keep the steps in the Long-Term Memory so they can reference it later.
Final Prototype
For the final prototype, I developed a website that allows users to easily compare the three different phone models by presenting key differences in a clear and concise way. The design supports quick and efficient navigation, enabling users to access detailed information quickly. Additionally, I highlighted the Pixel 9's innovative AI features, showcasing what makes them unique and allowing users to explore their benefits in an intuitive layout.
retrospective
After finishing this project, I realized there's more to interface design than just making it look good. It's important to think about how people’s minds work so the design doesn’t overwhelm them. I'll keep what I learned in mind as I move on to creating more detailed interfaces in the future.
